RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
The Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing risks across the organisation. The role will provide independent risk oversight and support management in making informed decisions by ensuring that key financial, operational, investment, credit, regulatory, information technology, and strategic risks across the Group are appropriately identified and mitigated.

Directly Report To: Chief Operating Officer / Managing Director
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Risk Identification & Assessment
• Identify and assess financial, investment, credit, operational, strategic, regulatory, and reputational risks across the organisation.
• Develop and maintain the organisation's risk register.
• Conduct periodic risk assessments and evaluate the potential impact and likelihood of identified risks.
• Recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls.
2. Investment & Financial Risk Management
• Monitor investment and credit portfolios across the Group and assess exposure to market, credit, liquidity, and counterparty risks.
• Review investment proposals and transactions from a risk perspective.
• Establish and monitor risk limits, thresholds, and early-warning indicators.
• Provide risk insights to support investment and business decisions.
• Monitor portfolio performance against approved risk parameters.
• Co-ordinate the financial risk mitigation and management efforts across the Group including investment & credit portfolios, payment systems etc.
3. Operational Risk Management
• Identify operational weaknesses, control gaps, and potential areas of loss across the various business units.
• Co-ordinate with the Chief Technology Officer to ensure IT related risks are properly identified and mitigated
• Co-ordinate with the Business Communications and Compliance teams to ensure sound practices are in place to mitigate against reputational risks
• Develop and monitor key risk indicators (KRIs).
• Support the implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Investigate significant operational risk incidents and recommend corrective actions.
4. Risk Policies, Frameworks & Controls
• Develop, review, and implement risk management policies, frameworks, and procedures.
• Ensure risk management practices are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Review the effectiveness of internal controls across the various business units and recommend improvements.
• Maintain appropriate risk documentation and reporting frameworks.
5. Compliance & Regulatory Risk
• Work closely with Compliance, Internal Audit, Finance, and other relevant functions to identify regulatory and compliance risks.
• Monitor changes in applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the organisation.
• Ensure identified regulatory risks are escalated and appropriately addressed.
6. Risk Reporting
• Prepare quarterly risk reports for consideration by the Board and its relevant committees
• Prepare periodic risk reports for senior management and relevant executive management committees.
• Provide management with timely updates on key risks, emerging risks, breaches, and mitigation actions.
• Develop risk dashboards and management information using relevant risk metrics and indicators.
• Escalate significant risk exposures and control failures promptly.
7. Risk Culture & Awareness
• Promote a strong risk management culture across the organisation.
• Provide training and awareness sessions to employees on risk management, controls, and risk-related policies.
• Encourage proactive identification and reporting of risks across business units.
8. Governance & Stakeholder Management
• Participate in relevant management and risk committee meetings.
• Work closely with senior management and business heads to ensure effective risk management.
• Collaborate with Internal Audit to address control weaknesses and track remediation actions.
• Provide independent challenge where business decisions present material risk exposures.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as CFA, FRM, ACCA, ACA, CISA, CRMA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum 5–8 years' relevant experience in risk management, investment risk, financial services, audit, compliance, or a related field.
• Experience within investment management, asset management, banking, private equity, or financial services is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of financial, credit and investment risk principles, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
